We are extremely excited at the prospect of having Camp Leon 2025! As we prepare for another great year at Camp Leon, we ask that you keep a few things in mind.

1. We have a strict number of 104 (52 females and 52 males) spaces available for campers. Preference will be given to members of Blessed Sacrament Parish. As space allows, we will welcome campers from other parishes.

2. Our Camp is designed to foster the development of Catholic faith and morals among all who participate. We have Mass and other prayer services each day. Please prepare your children to participate fully in our prayers and to behave at all times in a Christ-like manner during Camp. This includes following rules, respecting staff authority and respecting the property and needs of others. Failure to do so will be cause for expulsion.

3. Please prepare your child to understand that s/he is NOT allowed to bring any electronics (INCLUDING PHONES) or food items in their personal luggage or to receive food by mail. The chances that a camper will take a photo and accidently take a picture of someone in the background in a stage of undress is too great to allow electronics at camp. Additionally, Wi-Fi is limited. Moreover, we all can use a week unglued to our electronics and enjoying new friends and the outdoors. The camp has strict rules regarding no food being allowed in dorms, due to issues with insects. But don’t fret, we have a wonderful team of cooks that serve three delicious meals every, along with desserts at lunch and dinner and a bedtime snack. For those picky eaters, we always have boxed cereal for breakfast and peanut butter or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch and dinner. If there are issues with food allergies, please let us know.

4. Campers are generally ages 7-14. Campers presently in 9th grade are eligible to serve as willing worker staff members. Please contact us if you would like a willing worker application.

5. Camp Leon is located at 225 Catholic Conference Center, Huttonsville, WV (Camp Carlos/formerly Bosco) – Located twenty-three miles south of Elkins, WV, or four miles south of Huttonsville, WV, on U.S. Route 219, a three-hour drive from Charleston.

6. Children sleep in dorms with other campers of the same gender and similar age. Dorm assignments are based on grade/age. Each child is placed in a group for the week that is supervised by 1 adult staff member and several junior staff members.

7. In a spirit of stewardship based on the teaching of Jesus, no standard registration fee is charged. Each family is encouraged to contribute as they are able; keeping in mind that the actual cost per camper to our Parish is about $375.00. No child will be excluded because of inability to pay. Our parish budget includes no funding for Camp, so additional gifts to assist other families are MOST welcome! Please be as generous as your situation allows. Make checks payable to Blessed Sacrament Church and mail to Camp Leon, Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 E. Street, South Charleston, WV 25303.

8. We also are always in need of adult staff. If any parent or family member would like to volunteer at camp, please complete the staff application. Even if you cannot attend the whole week, we can always use help for a few days, help setting up and help cleaning up at the end of camp.

DEADLINE? Since space is very limited at camp, applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis with a preference for Blessed Sacrament parishioners. Please send your application(s) as soon as possible. You will be notified by mail of your child’s acceptance.
